This photograph was taken around 1925 at North's Garage, South Stifford. The young man in the centre is Tom Rate who went on to establish Rates of Grays a local Ford Motor Company main dealership. Left to right are Tom North, son of owner, Tom Rate, George Livermore a local jeweler.

            The bus in the background is possibly owned by Smith and Godden a local private bus service operating at that time.
