Pigg's Bakery was situated at the junction of Lodge Lane and Southend Road, Grays. There were several other shops in nearby Orsett Village, Horndon on the Hill, Chadwell-St-Mary and Tilbury.

       The bakery in opened in 1932 and served the community for more than 35 years but eventually stopped trading in 1968 and the site lay derelict until 1976 when the bulldozers moved in to demolish the buildings.

The site was brought back to life in 1983 when on Saturday the 12th of November it was officially opened as an old age peoples complex the first 36 flats being let in July 1983 and the rest shortly after its official opening.

The junction of Lodge Lane and Southend Road is still referred to as "Piggs Corner".
